I think the level of expensive polish that Apple has covered all their TV shows and movies with makes them look like they were all made by a pharmaceutical company. None of them have appealed to me, even the ones I've liked!
It's like how every Amazon Prime show looks like an Amazon Prime show.
Is this what "prestige" means now? Am I wrong? I may be wrong.

100% agree with you! They seem to require too much "consistency of style" and it feels not only like they are limiting their creators artistically, they're also, essentially, peeing on their shows to mark them in case someone sees them somewhere else. This is the danger of having tech-and/or-venture-capitolist-bros in charge of anything artistic or creative.
But you do not know Mars, for its true name is Barsoom.
